Demurrage and detention invoices on leased containers arrive weeks after the equipment moved, priced on dwell periods the lessor cannot see. The gate-in and gate-out timestamps, the free-time entitlement and the terminal closures that should suspend the clock sit in separate systems, so most invoices are paid because the deadline to dispute them passes first. If you finance or lease vessels, that is a desk in your own business.
What the work is
An agent rebuilds each container’s dwell period from the equipment interchange records, applies the free time and the suspensions the contract allows, and produces the chargeable days it can support against the days invoiced. Where the interchange record is missing it says so rather than assuming the invoice is right. What it does not do
Whether a supportable dispute is actually filed against a line the fleet depends on for slots, because winning an invoice and losing an allocation is not a win. That is not a limitation of the software. It is the line the reference design draws on purpose, and a vendor who offers to move it is selling you something else.
