A ship mortgage is registered with the flag state, and the registry, the loan file and the insurance endorsements must all name the same vessel, the same owner and the same mortgagee. Registrations, transcripts and endorsements arrive on different days from different jurisdictions, so a file can look complete while the transcript still shows a prior mortgagee or an owner name that changed at closing. If you finance or lease vessels, that is a desk in your own business.
What the work is
An agent holds the registry transcript, the mortgage instrument, the insurance endorsement and the loan file for each vessel, checks the vessel identification, the owner and the mortgagee agree across all four, and lists the documents still outstanding by registry. Each check names the document it read. What it does not do
Whether a registration defect is treated as a condition subsequent or as a stop on drawdown, because that reading of the facility belongs to the lawyer signing the certificate. That is not a limitation of the software. It is the line the reference design draws on purpose, and a vendor who offers to move it is selling you something else.
