A charter ends with the vessel to be redelivered in the same good order as on delivery, fair wear and tear excepted, and the only reference point is the on-hire survey taken at the start. The off-hire survey is read against a recollection of the on-hire condition rather than against the document, and the redelivery notice period runs out while the two surveys are still being compared by hand. What the work is
An agent sets the off-hire survey against the on-hire survey item by item, separates the differences the charter party makes the charterer’s responsibility from those that read as fair wear and tear, and lists the bunker quantity and condition items still open against the redelivery terms. What it does not do
Whether to accept the vessel back as she is or hold the charterer on hire until a condition item is made good, because accepting redelivery ends the claim and only the owner can close it. That is not a limitation of the software. It is the line the reference design draws on purpose, and a vendor who offers to move it is selling you something else.
