What is whereai?↓
whereai is a free macOS desktop app that reads your local Claude Code session files and shows you token usage, cost breakdowns, cache efficiency, and AI-powered workflow recommendations.
Does whereai send my data anywhere?↓
No. All analytics run locally on your Mac. The only optional exception is the AI Analysis feature, which sends an aggregated usage summary to the Anthropic Claude API when you explicitly click 'Analyse'. No raw session data or personal information is ever transmitted.
Why can't whereai see my session files?↓
On a Mac App Store build, whereai runs in a sandbox and needs you to grant access to your ~/.claude folder. On first launch, a folder picker will appear — select your ~/.claude directory to allow access.
Are the cost estimates accurate?↓
They're close but approximate. whereai calculates costs from token counts in your local session files using published Anthropic pricing. For exact billing, always check your Anthropic usage dashboard.
Does whereai require a Claude Code subscription?↓
whereai reads session files created by the Claude Code CLI — so you need Claude Code installed and in use on your Mac. whereai itself is free.
