A hull damage or cargo incident generates a statement of facts, a deck and engine log extract, photographs, a surveyor’s report and repair quotations, all created by different people in the days after the event. The claim is presented weeks later, and the file goes to the insurer and the adjuster missing the one document that would have supported the disputed head of loss. If you finance or lease vessels, that is a desk in your own business.
What the work is
An agent assembles the claim file against the documents that head of claim requires, pulls the log extracts and statements of fact for the incident window, lists what is missing and who holds it, and produces the file in the order an adjuster reads it. Nothing is generated that only a surveyor can state. What it does not do
Whether the incident is presented as one claim or several, and which heads of loss are pursued at all, because that framing shapes the deductible and the record the insurer keeps on the fleet. That is not a limitation of the software. It is the line the reference design draws on purpose, and a vendor who offers to move it is selling you something else.
