The charterer who is paying later every month

Hire falls due at a fixed interval and a charterer under pressure pays a little later each time, short-pays with a deduction, or asks for an indulgence. Each incident is handled by whoever answered the email, so the pattern across a whole charterer relationship is only visible to the credit desk once the arrears are large enough to matter. If you finance or lease vessels, that is a desk in your own business.

What the work is

An agent tracks each hire instalment against its due date and the amount actually received, builds the payment pattern per charterer across every vessel on charter to them, and raises a deterioration with the instalment history behind it. It shows short payments and their stated reasons separately from late payments. What it does not do

Whether to serve notice on a late-paying charterer or grant an indulgence, because putting a counterparty on notice can end an employment the vessel depends on. That is not a limitation of the software. It is the line the reference design draws on purpose, and a vendor who offers to move it is selling you something else.

What changes

The credit desk sees a charterer slipping across every vessel at once, instead of one inbox at a time.

Take hire instalment, anti-technicality notice, short payment into the demonstration and use them without explaining them. A vendor whose agent handles this work already knows those words; one who asks what they mean is showing you a system built for a different trade.
